Philly: Top Ten Photos of 2011

Comments Off on Philly: Top Ten Photos of 2011

Part One of the top most viewed posts/photos from 2011. Philadelphia style.

10. Supermoon

The Supermoon on March 19th was the biggest full moon in eighteen years. This is how it looked over Philadelphia that night.

9. More Mummers
There is no other New Year’s Day tradition in Philadelphia, and perhaps the country, like the Mummers Parade. I had the privilege of being hired to photograph the Fralinger String Band last year, documenting their early morning practice in a South Philly Aldi parking lot and along the entire parade route up to City Hall. It was definitely an experience I’ll always remember.

8. Flying Over Philadelphia

Back in July I had the opportunity to take an Independence Helicopters tour of Philadelphia with @MindyYablonski and @betsyvonawesome. Needless to say, we had some pretty awesome views of the city!

7. PIFA Street Fair

After a month long celebration of the arts, the Avenue of the Arts was closed down for the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts Street Fair. Broad Street was turned into a Parisian street fair with French street vendors and performers, a grass park with a children’s area, musical entertainment, and a giant Ferris Wheel. It all culminated with an amazing performance by La Compagnie Transe Express suspended over Broad Street!

6. Jamie Apody

Apparently Jamie Apody is a very popular woman in the city of Philadelphia! She’s seen here reporting at Citizens Bank Park before the first game of Jayson Werth’s return to Philadelphia as a Washington National.
