Basilica Del Voto Nacional From the Ground

Comments Off on Basilica Del Voto Nacional From the Ground

La Basilica in Ecuador’s Old Town Quito was one of my favorite architecture experiences during my visit in August. I took a series of videos that give you a sneak view of the climb up multiple levels via a spiral staircase and three sets of wrought iron ladders above the clock tower, already at a height to give those afraid of heights something to think about. Refer to my blog post with 3 short videos of the views from the top as well as the experience climbing it from the clock towers to the very top. Secondly, take a look at a post I wrote on Old Town Quito itself which includes some magical photos of its people, buildings and everyday life.

On-the-ground, I continued to marvel over La Basilica’s presence – its angles, colors and intensity. If you can visit when no one is likely to be there, you’ll have a much more authentic experience and ‘quiet’ time to really be present with the views and the incredible architecture.
