We had never experienced Montage Hotels until our recent escape to Beverly Hills earlier this month when we were invited to stay at the Montage Beverly Hills property. This 5 Star hotel is one of five luxury properties in the Montage collection, and is located in the heart of Beverly Hills California along North Canon Drive. (Note: Los Cabos Mexico is opening in 2018).
What is this luxury stay’s magic sauce? Most memorable for us was the warm service, the views from the pool deck, the large outdoor hot tub which is surrounded by beautiful Italian tiles and our outdoor dining experience at their upscale restaurant Georgie (see our review).
Like most 5 star properties, they have a cabana section which you can reserve and rent out daily (it tends to offer more shade them the other side of the pool which is basking in the sun for most of the day).
In either location, you have access to their pool menu which serves bites like veggie platters and fish tacos, salads, burgers, sandwiches and more. There’s also plenty of cocktails to taste, from classics like Margaritas and Pina Coladas to fresh veggie juices, which I had daily during my stay. Oh so divine!
The pool is one of the best places to hang out at this property, largely because of the views and the incredible outdoor jacuzzi.
Not a pool lounger? They have tables where you can have breakfast or lunch and take in the sweeping views of Beverly Hills on all sides. It’s perfect any time of day, but particularly at sunset.
Their Beverly Hills property is less than a half mile from Rodeo Drive and less than three miles from Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which we visited during our visit.
The Rooms @ Montage Beverly Hills
I don’t know about you but I care more about the bathroom than any other feature – I want to know that there’s a deep soaking tub and that the sink area is spacious. Let’s face it – I love high quality skincare products and only expect the best from any 5 star property, regardless of where we are in the world. It’s a necessary part of any luxury stay, at least for me.
We were given an Executive Suite which was around 650 square feet and included a Queen sized sleeper sofa, making it an ideal situation if traveling with a child. Our suite led out onto a small terrace which had beautiful views of Beverly Hills and beyond.
French doors separated the living room/seating area from the bedroom and the bathroom, which had a separate marble soaking tub in addition to the shower. The seating area had a comfy custom chaise lounge and a massive flat screen TV, another great feature if you are traveling with kids. And, the fireplace is a nice perk.
Standard rooms are also pretty decadent however and you will feel pampered from the moment you check in until your departure.
Awe-Inspiring Views
The views are spectacular regardless of which angle you take. Go on a visual journey with me….
Breakfast at the Montage Beverly Hills
The Montage Beverly Hills has a couple of restaurant choices if you don’t want to order room service. You can opt for the more casual eatery on the pool level which they call the Rooftop Grill Cabanas & Bar or go to their higher end restaurant Georgie’s. Both are open for breakfast and lunch.
We tried both the Rooftop and Georgie’s for breakfast and we were happy with our orders and service on each occasion.
Both menus have a fresh pressed juice list (we’re huge fans of green juices with plenty of alkalinity) and you can also get wellness shots, like a summer slim, a chlorophyll H20, Apple Cider vinegar, a detox shot or the Hangover cure, which has turmeric and was my favorite out of the bunch.
Other fun menu choices included egg white Frittata for breakfast, Eggs Benedict and Avocado toast with poached eggs and goat cheese – oh so delish!
Afternoon choices included items such as veggie burgers, Scottish Salmon, Steak Frites, Cilantro-lime Guacamole, Roasted Califlower with chili, lime, cilantro and queso fresco and Hummus. You could also get one of their fresh salads, like the Farro and Arugula Salad or their Kale salad with avocado, quinoa, almonds, celery, dried cherries and goat cheese.
Want an unusual cocktail? Go for the Strawberry Basil which they serve with basil and lime. If want to splurge, they have a $100 Margarita which they make with Casa Dragones Joven Tequila, lime, coconut, tangerine and peach!
The Montage Beverly Hills makes a great wellness stay as well.
The Spa & Gym
While we didn’t have a spa treatment at the Montage Beverly Hills (and why we are not doing a standalone review on their spa), we want to point it out because it’s a very unique and lovely space.
Inspired by traditional Spanish Colonial Revival style architecture prevalent in historic Beverly Hills, their premier 20,000 square foot urban oasis feels warm and inviting the moment you walk through its doors.
If you’re staying at the Montage Beverly Hills, you can use their co-ed mineral wellness pool (pictured above) even without a treatment. The wellness pool is located in a lavish atrium which is bathed in natural sunlight that filters through oh so lovely sky lights.
They have seventeen well-appointed treatment rooms which include twelve massage and facial rooms as well as three wet treatment rooms, a couple’s suite and a luxurious, private nail suite.
They also boast Turkish steam rooms, dry redwood saunas, whirlpools, and deluge showers. We loved their relaxation lounges which have fireplaces with mosaic tile accents, teas and organic nuts.
The gym had a state-of-the-art cardio selection outfitted with individual media and music devices, and plenty of strength training equipment. Anthony was impressed who took advantage of their free weight area as well. Although we didn’t try one of their classes, they offer yoga and one-on-one private classes.
The Spa Boutique features L.RAPHAEL’s exclusive line of luxurious skincare products and there is a salon on-site. Two thumbs up!
Throughout the Hotel
Throughout the Montage Beverly Hills, there are plenty of fine touches, from Italian marble statues of Goddesses and fresh flowers to luxury brands showing off their latest and the downstairs lounge where you can listen to music over a cocktail.
Check before you book when the lounge is featuring live music. There’s also afternoon tea and an intimate whisky bar. We love this property and hope to review another Montage hotel in the future. If you’re heading to America’s west coast, it’s a great option as they have several in central and southern California. Visit Montage Hotels website for a list of their other locations and details on how to book.
