We would like to thank everybody who participated in our Facebook Travel Photography contest – those who submitted as well as those who checked out the fantastic collection of photos. The contest – our first one – was a great success!
We received over 200 quality submissions from around the world. The diversity of the photos speaks to the range of people who submitted images.
To give you a snippet of what has come in, entrants included photos from England, South Africa, Chicago, India, Fiji, Sri Lanka, California, Ireland, Kenya, New York, Israel, Egypt, Mexico, Florida, Mexico, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malta, Scotland, Italy, Germany, Venezuela, Nigeria, The Philippines, Namibia, Morocco, Australia, Peru, Canada, Japan, China and so many more. Every single continent (just short of Antarctica!) was represented in one or more photos.
Photos featured stunning landscapes, animals, architecture, locals, family, friends, snowstorms, sunsets, underwater microcosms, ancient history, and beautiful artwork. But most importantly, the photos captured each traveler’s favorite travel moment, and the excitement and specialness of them, which translated into one inspiring collection of global images.
Clearly, it is going to be very difficult to choose the winners! We will announce 25 finalists in two weeks along with their images here on We Blog the World. By April 1st, 2012 we will announce our three big winners. (And no, that is not an April Fool’s joke!)
Thanks again to all who made this contest such a success. We plan to do more contests like this one in the future with different themes! In the meantime, we encourage you to post travel photos on our Facebook wall to keep the conversation alive and engaging.
We’d love for you to share the page with others so we can add even more diverse voices, minds and hearts to the conversation. This includes Twitter too of course.
And, we’d like to extend a very special Thank You to Hyatt®, The Cheesecake Factory®, and P.F. Chang’s® for their generous contributions to our contest. Without them, this contest could not have been possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Good luck to all – and please feel free to continue checking out the submissions here.
