15 Paris Hotels With Great Locations & Wifi Access

Comments Off on 15 Paris Hotels With Great Locations & Wifi Access

After hours and hours of research for Paris hotels, I came up with a short list which I have curated below. Note that regardless of how many times I’ve been there, I still need to go through this extensive search each and every year because demand changes, prices changes, quality changes and of course, location preference may be different depending on what I need to do and where I need to go.

The below list is in the 3-4 star range. There are also a number of apartment stays which I don’t include in this write-up although AirBNB and Special Apartments are great sites to explore studios and 2-4 bedroom options, many of which are very centrally located.

One thing I noticed with my research however, is that if you’re looking for a place off-season, chances are that you’ll still have plenty of availability as you get close to your dates, but the longer you leave it, the more likely it is that your options for reasonably priced apartments that are close to a metro station you want to be near will be slim.

Key for me is reliable wifi, so all of the options I list here (and the apartments I also sought out) listed wifi as one of their features, most of which was free for guests.

Top Paris Hotels for Wifi & Location

Le Vignon Hotel. 4 Star. 23 rue Vignon, Paris. 01.47.42.93.00. Located about a block from the Madeleine metro stop on Ligne 12, it’s a fairly convenient hotel in the $200 range. It is a fairly simple but colorful and funky style hotel, the rooms modern and vibrant in style. Makes it a great choice for top Paris hotels.

Hotel Astotel, Opera. 4 Star.  29 rue de Caumartin, 75009 Paris. 01 42 66 15 15. Hotel Astotel is located close to the Opera Garnier, department stores, Place Vendome and Rue de la Paix at the heart of the Theater District and Business Centers. This hotel in the elegant facade, offers a magnificent glass-roofed lobby decorated with contemporary works.

Astotel – Hotel Lorette. 3 star.  36 rue Notre Dame de Lorette, 75009 Paris. 01 42 85 18 81. This hotel is more basic than the above two and not as centrally located. If you don’t want luxury and are trying to stick to a budget, you can opt for this one located in the north, not far from Montmartre and the Sacred Heart.

Astotel – Hotel Joyce.  3 Star. 29 rue La Bruyere, 75009 Paris. 01 55 07 00 01. Also more basic than the first two but probably a slight step above Hotel Lorette, this hotel is centrally located, about a block and a half from Metro stop Saint Georges on the 12 Ligne. It is also close to Opera.

Plaza Athenee. 4 Star. 25 avenue Montaigne, Paris. 01.536.76.665.

Another great hotel for the top Paris Hotels list is Plaza Athenee. Conveniently located on the west side of Paris, near Arc de Triomphe and across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower. It is close to subway ligne 9. Below is a Superior King, so albeit charming, the rooms tend to be small. (fairly typical for Paris).

Hotel Bellechasse. 4 Star. 8 rue Bellechasse, Paris. 01.45.50.2231. The closet metro stop is Ligne 12 (Solferino) although it is also a stone’s throw from Musee D’Orsay stop on the RER.  The lobby and all the rooms are funky, creative, colorful and uniquely decorated in almost a modern artistic style. That said, the rooms are very small so be sure to ask for a larger room if you’re staying for awhile. Also note (and I am doing a separate standalone review on this hotel), it can be very noisy because it’s a boutique hotel. The walls are not that strong/thick so if you’re not an early riser, be prepared to hear the cleaning lady in the room next to you — all of it, from vacuuming to changing the garbage.

Hotel Westminster. 4 Star. 13 rue de la Paix, Paris. 01.42.61.78.65. Opera is the closet metro station, only located about 250 meters away from the entrance, and Madeleine and Pyramides stops are also fairly closeby, around 700 meters away. The rooms, like most Paris hotels are not large, with their standard rooms around 20 square meters and their executive rooms around 30 square meters. They were willing to offer a complimentary meal and breakfasts when I inquired because I was staying for longer than a week. Located in their hotel is Le Celadon, a one Michelin Star restaurant which I didn’t have a chance to try out. This location is hard to beat for convenience for Paris Hotels.

Konfidentiel Paris. 4 Star.  64 rue de L’Arbre, Paris. 01.42.36.70.13.  Located in a 15th Century restored building, not far from Le Louvre and St. Honore Street, the rooms are individually done and depending on the room you get, you can feel as if you’re in a King‘s palace.

The below one, actually called the Suite Roi de France has a pretty vibrant and artistic backdrop behind the bed; gotta love it. Themes of each room refer to places, moments and strong figures in France‘s history, traveling from the world of the Kings of France to that of Marie-Antoinette by staying on the side of the Pont Neuf, rediscovering Moliere, or by reliving The French Revolution. The space again is small, but range from 25 to 30 m2, meant as elegant cocoons.

Intercontinental – there are two. Le Grand Hotel on 2 rue Scribe and one on 64 Avenue Marceau, Paris. 01 44 43 36 36. Located in the 9th arrondissement, its Empire style borne of Napoleon’s love of grandeur shows through. An historic monument amid the swirl of the shopping, theatre and banking districts, its close to the Opéra Garnier, Place Vendôme and Le Louvre Museum.

Hotel Balzac. 4 Star. 9 rue Balzac, Paris. 01.42.99.8080. Located close to Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, this hotel is in the 8th arrondissement, near the rue Faubourg Saint Honore and La Defense. Superior rooms tout 20 meters or more as well as marble bathrooms with showers. (don’t assume in Paris that you will have a shower – note that many of the mid-ranged rooms in Hotel Bellechasse for example only had baths).

Some of their rooms have views over Paris, whilst others overlook Hotel Balzac’s inner courtyard.  Some of their rooms have a view of the Eiffel Tower but this is a supplemental 100 Euros based upon availability. Their continental breakfast is pricey at 28 euros per person, 38 for an American breakfast. Skip it and head to a local patisserie for some yummy coffee and a croissant or pastry.  Location is great for this Paris Hotels choice however.

Hotel Vigny. 4 Star. 9 rue Balzac, Paris, next to the Hotel Balzac. 01.42.99.8080. As above, located near the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe. The executive rooms are around 22 meters in size.

Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais. 3 Star. 12 rue Vieille-du-Temple, Paris. 01.42.72.34.12. They tout 19 charming rooms, each uniquely decorated in Victorian style. Note that the rooms are very very small, but the place is charming including its lobby and it is smack in the middle of the Marais, so very convenient to trendy shops and fabulous restaurants.

Hotel De Lille, 2-3 Star. 40 rue de Lille, Paris. 01.42.61.29.09. Located in the heart of the aristocratic quarter, on Paris’ Left Bank, Hôtel de Lille is both charming and cordial but note that the rooms are very very small. The location is ideal however as it is a stone’s throw from the d’Orsay and Louvre museums and from the famous Saint-Germain-des-Prés area.

Breakfast is served as per Parisian baker tradition, in the vaulted “Saint-Germain” room – a vestige of the cellars that help characterize the neighborhood. I didn’t see a room when I was there but talked to the hotel manager on duty. (they were full up). He told me the rooms range from 112 euros for a single bed, 127 for a double bed but if you were solo and for a double with two people 140 and for a renovated room of the same, 160 euros.

Metro stops close by are the Musee D’Orsay RER and the Rue Du Bac on the Green/12 Ligne. We are ‘guessing’ that the below room is a renovated room since he couldn’t show me one at the time.

Melia Le Colbert Hotel. 4 Star. This hotel is a 19th-century mansion located in the Latin Quarter, across the river from Notre Dame, and approximately 21 miles from Charles de Gaulle International Airport. This location is also 500 meters from the Luxembourg Gardens and the Pantheon, three miles from the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, 21 miles from Versailles, and 28 miles from Disneyland Paris.

Hotel Astor Saint-Honoré. 4 Star. 11 rue D’Astorg, Paris. It is located between the quarters of the Champs Elysees and the Opera, close by the Seine river and not too far from the Champs Elysees, and the boutiques on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore. The hotel itself is located on a relatively quiet street and has 128 rooms.

Le Jardin de Marais. 4 Star Boutique Hotel in the Marais. 74 Rue Amelot, 75011 Paris. 01 40 21 20 00. Located in buildings inspired by Gustave Eiffel, all rooms overlook the hotel’s internal garden and the bathrooms are decorated in marble. It’s a beautiful one on the Paris Hotels list.
